Automate Processes – Impress Your Clients by Using Zapier
What would you say is something that your clients really appreciate about you?
Are you a talented web designer? Do they think your prices are fantastic? Do you have their sites up and running faster than expected? These are all traits of an excellent freelance web designer!
But what if you could add this one… “I save countless hours of valuable time for my clients.”
Promise Your Clients Even More
As freelancers, so many goals are about saving time and money, right? More time equals the opportunity to make more money and it’s a positive cycle that just keeps going. One of the easiest ways to save time, for anyone, is to automate processes that are normally done manually.
We’ve teamed up with our friends at to show you how you can achieve this for your clients – in the end, making you their go-to web designer for future projects.
How you ask?
Automate Processes by Using Zapier
is an online service that allows you to connect unrelated applications. In a sense, you’re allowing them to “talk” to each other. Basically, what you’ll be giving your client is a way to automate processes that would normally be done manually into one swift step by specifying a “trigger” and a “response.”
Sound confusing? Here is an example of how you can save your clients time and money.
Let’s say your client uses a program called AWeber as their lead-capturing system. Once a lead comes through their website, they copy the information and manually enter it into a separate program called Quickbooks. Your client has to complete the copying and entering of information every time a new lead comes through.
This is where you become their Super Freelance Web Designer with the knowledge and skills to help cut out their step work.
You can offer to set them up on for a small fee (we recommend around $100-$200). The time it takes you to complete the set-up is minimal.
What you’ll do is go to and search first for your program, in this case, AWeber. You’ll have to enter the login information and grant access to the material. Then, you will search for the secondary program, in this case, Quickbooks and grant access once more.
You can specify the trigger action as being a new lead coming through and the response from is to pull that new lead’s information from AWeber, to then enter and save it into Quickbooks.
Why Change an Already In-Place System?
But if your client already has a lead capture and data-collection system in place, why would you want to change it? To answer that, let’s break it down a little bit to illustrate the impact you could have on your clients’ respective businesses.
We recently set up this exact zap for a client. In their case, each manual extraction and entry takes about 5 minutes and they receive new leads two to three times a day. So this one zap saves them over 80 hours in one year.
While 80 hours for the whole year doesn’t sound like much – think of it in monetary terms. If your client’s hourly income ranges from $20-50 per hour, you are saving them between $1,600 and $4,000 for the entire year!
Not bad at all considering you’ve spent maybe an hour on the set-up and your client only paid a small fee, right?
Benefits Add Up to a Win-Win Situation for All
Any way you look at it, having the potential to save a client over $1,500 a year is a pretty big deal. You’ve made some extra money, you’ve saved someone tons of money and you are now high on a client’s go-to list. That’s hard to beat and even harder to compete with.
Have you used before? If so, have you had any success with it? We’d love to hear about your experiences! Share in the comments below.
